Best Buy

I recently bought a new Macbook Pro at Best Buy. I was checked out by the clerk and proceeded to walk outside. The door man stopped me to make sure i paid for the laptop and then i proceeded to walk out of the store and go home. My mom and brother Michael were with me so i sat in the back seat. I immediately covered the notebook up with a jacket so that no one could see in sitting in the car. Little did i know some one was watching us. 2 criminals were camping out in the Best Buy parking lot waiting for some one to walk out with something of value. We stopped at Publix to run inside and buy some hoagies for lunch. We were inside a total of 15 minutes and when we returned to the car the laptop was gone and the lock on the car had been destroyed. 2 people followed us from the Best Buy parking lot and robbed us. I immediately filed a police report and spoke with T.J. the manager of best buy about the problem. He simply told me "Its not our problem." He said this happens all the time and the store is not responsible for what happens outside its doors. He said "We don't have any security cameras out there because its not our responsibility and we lease the parking lot." He said "We have had some of our customers followed home and robbed at gunpoint by these guys." So naturally i asked him what measures have you taken to prevent these robberies out side of your store? He said we have the police patrol around the lot on the weekends. (I was shopping on a Wednesday) Best Buy continues to do nothing about it including inform their customers about the robberies. I have spoken to the HR supervisor and the CR supervisor at best buy corporate and one said "We don't want to tell our customers about the danger that is lurking in our parking lot cause it might frighten them." "Its not our responsibility to protect our customers once they step out side of our store." All they had to do was inform me (the customer) about the potential threat and i could have prevented it. So i am now on a mission. And that is to inform the metro atlanta population about the threat that is lurking inside of Best Buys parking lots. I have an interview with AJC, Alpharetta Revue and the Emory Wheel News papers so i can inform the public of Best Buys lack of care for their customers. If you would like to find out more about my story, you have but to ask. "This kind of robbery happens atleast 500 times a year out side of best buy stores in the metro atlanta area." (Unnamed Security Consultant) And Best Buy continues to do nothing about it.

Should We Confront?

Is confrontation a good thing? If my friend talks bad about my friends should he be called out and confronted? If your boss is insulting or harassing you should he be confronted or just be left alone? Confrontation in my book is very important. Its necessary to survive, and is a deterrent for people who like to talk about you behind your back. Yes in some cases the person that you confront will tell you to go get bent or they will just continue to lie to your face. But in the end you will at least know that you made an effort to make things right. Confrontation in my opinion can also be known as good communication. I will ask the question of; if you want to solve a problem how do you do it. Do you start by walking away from the problem or by confronting it and getting your hands dirty. I would most definitely say that if you have a problem with some one approach them and confront them in a mature and calm fashion. I mean yeah sometimes people don't react well to confrontation but some do so why not take the chance and do it. You never know it might save a friendship or employee. Take the chance confront some one.

Loving a class.

In my personal experience it is very easy to pass a class and get an A when you enjoy it. My communications class is one of the best classes i have ever taken. The teacher is very up beat and keeps everything at an even level. He does not just lecture but he gets the class involved and participating. I find his speeches very thought out and not just routine. Its exciting and he knows how to hold your attention and keep you thinking. I have noticed a extreme difference between my classes that seem like the teacher is playing a piece of music note by note and when a teacher teaches like he's playing the blues. I am more motivated, inspired and encouraged. I look forward to his class instead of dreading it. I find that my grades are better when the information is really presented to me instead of read to me. I think that teachers that are tenured should not be. cause some one always need supervision. That's like saying pilots don't need check rides or extra training when they have been flying for the company for more than 10 years. I think some teachers should put extra effort in to their classes. Its like the golden rule if a teacher puts a lot of effort into a class then the students are gonna do the same.

Inconvenience

By no means is death convenient. At some point in life we have our first encounter with it, weather it be a pet goldfish or a loved one. Our first encounter with the grim reaper is never forgotten. My grandmother recently passed away and at the wake I observed my 3 year old nephew Austin and how he reacted to his first encounter of death. It made me pause... Because life is just so simple at that age. It seems like the older we get the harder life becomes. No matter when it happens, the death of a loved one always comes at the wrong time and is never easy to cope with. Every person copes differently, some of us just sit and have our time of mourning and then its over and others will just never be the same again. Some sit in their rooms and reminisce on the memories and items of the past. Others live in regret; regret that they never said what they meant, regret that they never got to say good by, and some of us live in the regret that we never showed enough love. Death is unavoidable and inevitable its ever present and sure to come. Death is a part of life that cannot be forgotten and will be sure to visit every person on this planet.

My Dog

Loyal, faith full, and everlasting forgiveness are the words that come to mind when i think about my dog, or as I like to call her "woofey." Her name is Annabelle and she is a Jack Russell Terrier who is 12 and will be turning 13 in December. As children my older siblings and I begged my dad to let us get a dog, his typical answer was no, but one day in early December he said yes. We went to see a friend who was a Jack Russell breeder and looked at 7 different puppies. Well there was one major problem with this and that was my sister and I wanted one and my brother wanted another. Well when we got home that afternoon the arguments began. Megan and I wanted a female puppy and my brother Michael wanted a male. My dad being old school said lets settle this the old fashion way and flip a coin. We flipped the coin and it was tails which meant that Michael my brother got to pick the puppy. He surprised every one and chose the one Megan and I wanted out of the kindness of his heart. No one was expecting this. To this day Annabelle has been the best dog we could ever have. The best part of all is that she loves Michael my brother the most. Because he gave of himself and chose the dog that my sister and I wanted he gets rewarded with the everlasting love of a loyal and faith full woofey named Annabelle.

Positive or Negative

I was inspired to write this cause i spoke with a friend about weather people should react positively about problems or negatively. I actually overheard some one talking about a problem with a pier. lets just say Jane and Kim. Well Kim is claiming that Jane is racist but in the midst of Kim's conversation about Jane she proceeded to call her a "Racist white bitch" and other profane insults. How in the world can you accuse some one of being racist and then say that and feel alright about yourself. Why does she have the right to accuse some one of being racist when she is obviously racist herself. Some one once told me that the reason people accuse one another of stealing is because they themselves are thieves. I am not accusing any one here just stating what I see. My friend raised the question of should we respond to racism negativly? Or should we respond positive and try and help them to change? What would MLK Jr. say?? I say take the positive approach, why not confront the pier and tell her what she is doing cause she may not know that she is being racist. Why not confront her and then have an educated and mature conversation about it instead of talking bad about her and making threats on her. I dont know but I think both Jane and Kim are wrong in this situation. should we respond positive or negative?

VeilSide. Is it a dying company?

Veil Side. A premier Japanese areo company that sells parts for Nissan, Toyota, and Honda super cars. The company started strong in 1990 and rapidly climbed to the top of the aftermarket aero parts community. They are still around today but have become much less popular due to a new generation of import super car enthusiasts. Their advertising has dropped off in the last five years and they get practically no US market exposure except for the Fortune RX7 that appeared in the Fast and the Furious 3. They are a fantastic outstanding company with high quality parts. Some feel that Veil Side is a dying company but others feel that they are timeless. I honestly don't know what will happen to the company but i would have to say that most import enthusiasts are inspired by there cars and aero kits. but whatever the case they are a successful company so far and I hope for them to survive. Yes the economy is not getting a whole lot better but that is when survival skills should kick in. Sacrifices must be made just like Honda cutting their F1 team. it was an unnecessary expense. I raise my glass to Veil Side and wish them luck in these hard times.

Why so much opinion?

Some of my readers may ask me why do i write so much about current events and why do i have such strong opinions? First off I think every one needs to have an opinion, and be able to defend what they believe in. Whether its politics, religion, or peace you need to know what and why you stand for it. I have met people who say they don't stand for anything and that they just go with the flow. I have a high disrespect for those people. As a matter of fact i don't even think they should have a say so in anything that goes on in this country. Opinions are important and you need to have one. I believe that in order to be able to vote properly and decide this nations president you need to be educated enough to develop an opinion about it. If you don't know where you stand in this life how are you gonna define yourself???

Different standards.

Is Israel being held to different standards by the US and the rest of the world population? Well let me ask you this. If we had say one of our neighboring community's like Canada or Mexico shooting hundreds of rockets a day in to our major city's don't you think we would retaliate? Don't you think we would stop the supply of arms into their country so that they could no longer attack us? That is precisely what Israel did when an aid boat tried to deliver medical supplies and construction materials into Gaza earlier this month. Well what was not said is that most medical or relief boats are not filled with medical aid but weapons and war supplies. Israel then said that if the boats will stop outside of Gaza at the check points they will deliver ALL medical supplies by land. In the events that happened earlier this month a Medical supply ship ran the blockade. Israel responded by boarding and ceasing the ship. When it was boarded by Israels commando's they received retaliation and 11 of the ships crew were killed. Well all the different news media's are condemning Israel for what they did. but why??? The ship ran the blockade... therefore becoming a threat to Israel and their people. All the ship had to do was port, unload the supplies and they would have been delivered by land. Wht is Israel being held to a different standard than the rest of the world. If Cuba started hurling missiles in to the US dont you think we would blow them to kingdome come? Dont you think that we would declair war on them. In the Cuban missle crisis we surrounded cuba with our navy and screened every single ship that went in and out. and if some would have run our navys blockade we would have sunk it. Period! Why is Israel being condemned for protecting their people and country?

The Oil Spill

For the past forty-two days, a BP oil well has been uncontrollably leaking oil in the Gulf Of Mexico. The spill is a result of a pipe that burst five thousand feet underwater, and an estimated 25 million gallons of crude oil has now been dumped in the ocean. Yes this is a great disaster and needs to be corrected as fast as possible, but my main question is why in the world has President Obama and his cabinet assumed control of the situation, telling BP what to do and how to clean up the mess. Yes I think that the government should be involved in the situation but not in complete control of it. If some one disagrees with this and thinks Obama is right for assuming complete command of the situation i would to politely ask you to provide some evidence that our government knows more about oil spills and pipelines than BP does. Carol Brown, President Obama's energy policy advisor said, "This is obviously a difficult situation, but its important for people to understand that from the beginning the government has been in charge." (New York Times) If this is the case if the government has truly been in charge from the beginning, should we not be blaming them for how long this is taking instead of BP? If i must I will remind the American people that BP is one of the select few oil and gas suppliers that gets its oil from gulf coast oil wells instead of the middle east.

illegal Immagration???

In the past three days I have encountered at least three discussions about illegal immigration and its consequences on the united states. I do say consequences because in no way can any one with any self truth claim that illegal immigration has had a more positive effect on our country than negative. Yes the topic of illegal immigration is a sensitive one and should not be taken lightly; but it should be common knowledge to the people of this country. In Mr. Murray's English class we discussed the matter of a Kennesaw State University student who was arrested because she was an illegal immigrant. one may ask the question of why was she arrested, or say that she should have had an equal opportunity to go to school like the rest of the nation. The fact of the matter is, that she did and does have an equal opportunity. She has the same options that immigrants from other countries do. and that is fill out the paper work and do it legally. Some may say that its her parents fault and she did not have a choice when she was a child. well my reply to them is yes she may not have had a choice in her childhood but she most certainly did when she was attending college and preparing for a degree in Law. Now, no one should take any of this personally because this is just one mans thoughts on the subject and by no means am i claiming to be right on the matter. If anything I am saying the American people need to educate themselves on the matter. So when the shit does hit the fan, we are prepared to make a descision that is for the better and not the worst.
